The Central Council of Jews considers the university occupation in Berlin to be scandalous

Central Council President Josef Schuster explained this. “If a rector at her university allows terror glorifiers and Hamas lovers to have their way and sees them as less threatening than our police, that is completely incomprehensible to me,” said Schuster: “I shudder at the thought of this of all places “Social workers should be trained.”

Since the beginning of the week, the university’s lecture hall has been occupied by anti-Israel pro-Palestine activists. Banners glorify the terrorist Hamas and the fight against Israel. The bust of the Jewish namesake of the Alice Salomon University (ASH) was also wrapped in a Palestinian cloth and smeared with the words “Palestine”.

Police presence is threatening

The university has so far tolerated the occupation. ASH President Bettina Völter defended the occupiers and instead described the police presence in front of the building as “threatening,” as shown in a video.

This was criticized, among others, by Berlin’s governing mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) and Science Senator Ina Czyborra (SPD). According to Czyborra, the university has given the occupiers until Friday, which allows them to use peaceful dialogue. According to a police spokeswoman, the university was still occupied on Friday morning.

Sharp increase in anti-Semitism in schools

Hamas’ terror in Israel is apparently also fueling conflicts in German schoolyards. Since the Hamas terror war, a sharp increase in anti-Semitic, anti-Israel and Islamist slogans has been observed in schools, said the Independent Federal Commissioner for Anti-Discrimination, Ferda Ataman, to the newspaper “Tagesspiegel”. “Anti-Semitic attitudes and conspiracy myths are unfortunately also widespread in Muslim communities,” said Ataman.
