Düsseldorf celebrates “Carnival Day” in the old town – Rhineland – News

Düsseldorf’s old town is said to be firmly in the hands of fools on Saturday. This is definitely how the Düsseldorf Carneval Committee (CC) imagines its big 200th anniversary celebration. “This will be the biggest day of the Düsseldorf carnival outside of Rose Monday in decades“, says Vice President Stefan Kleinehr with conviction.

The committee has put together an extensive program that is intended to inspire not only the organized fools but also many “normal” citizens and old town visitors who are out and about in the city. “We also want to win over people who have previously had little to do with carnival“says Kleinehr.

Eleven club bivouacs in the old town

More than 20 Düsseldorf carnival clubs will gather at eleven bars in the old town from Saturday lunchtime and set up camp, so-called bivouacs. There are various program items everywhere over several hours. Numerous artists, bands as well as prince couples and youth groups from the clubs ring at all the stations to present themselves with music and dance performances.

Also a large Hoppeditz figure for Selfies and you can touch it in the streets of the old town. For the anniversary, the Düsseldorf prankster will once again play a clearly present role in the carnival.

Moving with a garden from other strongholds

Ten guards from Düsseldorf, the surrounding area, but also other northern strongholds such as Cologne, Bonn, Aachen and Mainz will be guests in the NRW state capital on Saturday for the milestone anniversary. In a joint procession we go to the town hall, where a concert by the guard music trains is planned in honor of the Düsseldorf carnival.

The guards should then move on in a star formation to the individual bivouacs. Meanwhile, numerous guests of honor from carnival, politics and society will celebrate from the town hall balcony. In honor of the foolish anniversary, Mayor Stephan Keller (CDU) invited to a reception. A former Hoppeditz actor will also give a laudatory speech on the Düsseldorf Carnival and its 200th anniversary.
