Richie Faulkner has revived the band, says Ian Hill

In an interview with the US radio station The choice Bassist Ian Hill spoke about how this came about Judas priest continued after their farewell tour in 2011 and 2012. After the announcement, guitarist KK Downing famously dropped out and the group brought in Richie Faulkner as a replacement. According to Hill, the latter is also the reason why the formation is still so active.

New momentum

“Richie came in and replaced Ken, who left to do his own thing”The Judas Priest woofer looks back. “Of course the whole idea was that we’d slow it down a little and lighten the workload.” But Richie came along – with boundless enthusiasm and all that energy. It kind of rubbed off on the rest of us. And here we are three albums, three tours, four tours, five tours later – if you count the Epitaph farewell tour. And we are still in great shape. The engine is running. We love it. Really.”

When asked about the fact that Judas Priest’s two newest albums, FIREPOWER from 2018 and Invincible shield from 2024, are really strong long players, Hill replied: “We always try to take the next step forward with every album.” After all, you learn new things all the time. And whatever we learn, we try to apply it to the next project. We’ve been doing this since we started back in the early 1970s. And it’s important to do that because it keeps you modern and relevant. This also creates a connection with younger fans, which is important.”
