“I always said that he never treated me badly”: Elena Rybakina reiterates her stance on Stefano Vukov after the provisional ban

Elena Rybakina needed to press before Australian Open and doubled her performance once again against Stefano Vukov, who was confirmed to be making a surprise return to his team for the Australian Open.

Only for the former controversial coach to receive an interim ban, and although he is in Australia, he is now banned from qualifying for the Australian Open or any other tournament WTA Tournaments.

Rybakina may have been willing to boycott the tournament as Vukov was not allowed as Goran Ivanisevic, who is her new coach, and felt blindsided by it all. Big news in the world of tennis. Rybakina, of course, asked questions about it and doubled her status.

“I don’t agree with a lot of things the WTA is doing regarding my relationship with Stefano,” Rybakina said during Saturday’s presser.

“I never complained or anything like that. I always said he never mistreated me.”

“Definitely not the ideal situation. But like I said, my goal here is to focus on the games. I will do that.”

“I really don’t want to talk about it anymore.”

She also spoke about her first opponent in Emerson Jones, who was compared to leading Australian ace Ash Barty at the age of 16.

“I think she’s definitely a good player,” Rybakina continued.

“She is a good player, a dangerous player. Especially when you’re young, you have nothing to lose. And she’s home.”

“I definitely think it’s a very tough opponent because you never know what to expect.”
