A real construction marathon will overtake the districts of Laim and Nymphenburg in 2025. Which projects are making significant progress and which are starting soon:

Laim / Nymphenburg – The construction of the tram west tangent goes hand in hand with two huge renovation projects: the renewal of a main water pipe on Wotanstrasse and Fürstenrieder Strasse and the new construction of the aging motorway bridge at Ammerseestrasse. Overall, these measures will also have an enormous impact on traffic in Laim and Nymphenburg in 2025.

Construction sites will dominate in Laim and Nymphenburg in 2025: Wotanstrasse will become a one-way street – the bridge over the motorway will be demolished

Wotanstraße is expected to become a one-way street heading north for a year from June. Traffic heading south should avoid crossing the Friedenheimer Bridge. The reason: the new main water and various other supply lines that have to be laid before the track is built. The MVG will probably explain more at an information event after the Easter holidays.

The ongoing work continues on Fürstenrieder Straße between Ammerseestraße and Laimer train station. In addition, the Hogenberg underpass between Gotthard and Agnes-Bernauer-Straße will also be renovated by the summer. “From summer onwards, SWM will push ahead with track construction in the entire section. “Among other things, the track cross is being built on Agnes-Bernauer-/Fürstenrieder Straße,” says spokesman Maximilian Kaltner. There will be one lane in each direction on Fürstenrieder Straße.

From autumn the bridge over the A96 will be demolished. Until then, various supply lines that currently cross the bridge will be laid from the north side, including through an extra tunnel under the motorway, to the south side of Fürstenrieder Straße. The lanes of the A96 will be reduced to two out of town.

Construction sites will dominate in Laim and Nymphenburg in 2025: first section of the tram west tangent and Laimer train station

At the end of the year, a first section of the tangent between Ammerseestrasse and the existing line 19 on Agnes-Bernauer-Strasse is scheduled to go into operation. This would allow the tram to run between the final stops at Pasing and Gondrellplatz. Bus routes 51, 151 and 168 continue to run.

The information office for the tram west tangent in the Laimer Herz neighborhood meeting point, Fürstenrieder Straße 124, is open every Monday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Station elevator

“In October we are expected to put the elevator at the east access building into operation, which will make Laim train station barrier-free accessible again,” said a railway spokesman. A lot of other things are also happening there: work on the central platform, the roof and the two tracks 502 and 503 leading into the city are to be completed. However, the railway does not expect it to be operational for passengers until the end of May 2026.
