A number of players could leave Wrexham during the 2025 winter transfer window, some of whom could fetch decent fees.

The focus on the Racetrack grounds Unsurprisingly, there were new signings in the first 11 days of the transfer window.

Wrexham have been linked with several strikersmost of whom currently play in the Championship.

Patrick Bamford is unlikely to complete a transfer despite reports that the Red Dragons were interested last month.

One of Bamford’s Leeds United teammates, Joe Gelhardt is a Wrexham target and will be eligible to secure a move this month, his current manager, Daniel Farke, has confirmed.

But which players could leave Wales in the coming weeks? Nine players have been asked to leave Wrexham in a report from The Athletic previously.

And we’ve now looked at six players the Red Dragons could sell to make more than £1m Phil Parkinson January transfer budget.

Wrexham could sell six players in the January transfer window

Will Boyle joined the Hollywood outfit from Huddersfield Town in 2023 and was instrumental in helping them gain promotion from League Two.

He only played 270 minutes of football in the 2024/25 season, none of which he achieved in the league.

Luke Bolton is another relatively new signing, having arrived from Salford City in February 2024, but despite now returning from injury he continues to be left out of League One matchday squads.

George Evans has found playing time very difficult to come by this season, with the arrival and excellent form of Matty James having reduced his chances of getting minutes in midfield even further.

James Jones is another midfielder Wrexham should move this month as his contract expires in June. Therefore, any money received back this month would be a big bonus.

Anthony Forde will be eligible to play in the league in January despite not being registered in the club’s League One squad.

But unless Parkinson plans to fire someone else in the second half of 2024-25, which seems unlikely, there is no point in retaining him.

Billy Waters spent the first half of this season on loan in the National League with Halifax Town.

But he has now returned to Wrexham and is unlikely to fit the bill with Parkinson already having five strikers and another likely on the way in January.

Record Wrexham transfer sales

None of the above players have much market value – Bolton’s €400,000 is the highest.

But that’s not surprising considering Wrexham currently play in League One and have never been a big, big-selling club.

Their record sale led to Bryan Hughes joining Birmingham City for £1.25 million in the 1996/97 season.

Then there was a significant decline when Neil Roberts moved to Wigan Athletic for £500,000 in 1999.

Wrexham’s top five record sales, according to Transfer marketRounding out are Barry Hunter (£419,000) to Reading, David Brammer to Port Vale (£406,000) and Craig Morgan to MK Dons (£314,000).
