Customers waited for hours: German kebab triggers a mega rush in Dubai

A kebab from Germany has been sold in Dubai for a few days now. Long queues immediately formed there. Some customers are said to have waited two and a half hours.

As the name suggests, it actually comes originally from the capital: “Original Berliner Döner”. The operators who made a name for themselves in Berlin later found their way to Franconia: a store opened in Nuremberg in September 2022, and two more restaurants followed.

Now they have taken the big geographical leap – and opened a new branch in Dubai. On December 25, 2024 the time had come.

There was also a very special promotion there – now common for such establishments: kebabs for just one cent. For a limited time. And the flatbread with meat, salad and sauce also seems to be more than well received in Dubai.

Kebab seller: “We still have goosebumps”

Footage that operator Hivar Saeeid published on Instagram a few days ago shows how the new store was literally overrun when it opened. Beforehand, an XXL queue formed, as if the new iPhone was about to be sold for the first time. The portal “infranken.de” first reported on the rush.

“We still have goosebumps,” is what is written again in retrospect on social networks. Some people waited for up to two and a half hours to be one of the first to taste the “Dubai kebab”.

Next branch planned in Berlin

The store opened in a prime location in the downtown area. From there you can even see the Burj Khalifa. The building is officially the tallest building in the world. The Burj Khalifa is an incredible 828 meters high.

By the way, Berlin, Nuremberg and Dubai are far from over. The company’s official website states that they are already fully planning to open a branch in New York soon.

It is quite possible that XXL queues could soon form in front of a very specific address in the “Big Apple”.
