Will Eintracht’s Omar Marmoush move to Manchester City in the winter? The signs of a farewell to Frankfurt seem to be increasing.

The transfer speculation surrounding star striker Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt is receiving new fuel. Sports director Markus Krösche confirmed that a club had approached Eintracht. Krösche did not want to reveal whether it was the English champions Manchester City. “Basically it is the case that someone has expressed their interest, but no longer,” Krösche told the TV channel Sky on the sidelines of the Bundesliga game at FC St. Pauli.

There had recently been reports that Man City was in advanced negotiations with the 25-year-old offensive star. The struggling Premier League champions are said to be offering the Egyptian international a long-term contract until 2029 or 2030. Marmoush’s market value is around 60 million euros.

According to Sky information, Eintracht is demanding 80 million euros, which Krösche did not want to confirm. “It makes no sense to discuss prices,” said the sports director: “Basically, we said that our goal is to keep this team together. Of course, we also said that if there are exceptional situations, we have to think about letting go of top performers.

If the change comes, it would be Frankfurt’s second transfer coup within 18 months, after Randal Kolo Muani moved to Paris Saint-Germain for 95 million euros in the summer of 2023.

Marmoush’s contract with the third-placed team is valid until the summer of 2027 and does not contain an exit clause. Marmoush, who came to the Main on a free transfer from Bundesliga rivals VfL Wolfsburg in 2023, has scored 18 goals in 24 competitive games so far this season. 13 of them in the Bundesliga – and 13 assists.
