This brilliant fantasy role-playing game unfairly flopped

Not every brilliant game will be a success. Some pearls even flop brutally. For example, the JRPG Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven. The fantasy role-playing game is already being sold off, but it is one of the best games of 2024.

A must for JRPG fans: Romancing Saga 2

As a big fan of Far Eastern role-playing games, 2024 was a really great year for me. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Unicorn Overlord, Dragon’s Dogma 2 or Metaphor: ReFantazio (our review of the game) gave me a lot of joy. Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, on the other hand, was completely lost.

The fantasy role-playing game from Square Enix was released at the end of October 2024 and was sold for half price on Amazon and Co. just two months later. A clear sign that that the JRPG fell short of the publisher’s commercial expectations.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is really great and doesn’t deserve to go down like this. And it’s not just me who sees this, the Steam reviews also reflect this opinion more broadly. That’s where the JRPG stops an impressive score of 95 percent approval. In the reviews on Steam, many users speak of one of the best role-playing games of recent years.

And I also have to say: Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven should JEvery fan of Dragon Quest, Tales of or Final Fantasy Definitely try it out. Especially since, as already mentioned, you can get the game on sale for just 35 euros. And Game is definitely worth it!

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a non-linear adventure with a very special twist. The history of the game spans several decades and centuries. So instead of just following one hero, you play multiple generations. You always pass on your skills to the next ruler. You slip into the role of the king quite early on, who has to save the world and his entourage from seven dark figures.

Classic gameplay with great features

The special highlight: It is up to you in which order you tackle the tasks. However, every decision has consequences and form your kingdom. This creates a great gaming experience because you really get the impression of building a nation over generations.

The only downer is that this concept means your companions No real personalitybecause you changed them regularly. Of course, this also applies to your respective ruler, whom you choose primarily based on class and appearance. That may sound sobering, but it didn’t bother me at all during my walk through.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven has far too good pacing for that. You are constantly discovering something new in the worldGet a new technique or class or further expand your kingdom.

If you’re not convinced by this point, then all I can do is help you the free demo recommend that lets you play the prologue.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is available for that PC, the Nintendo Switch, and the PlayStation 4 and 5.
