German NBA rookie shines
Without Chef Curry, Golden State lacks seasoning

Dennis Schröder and the Golden State Warriors are not yet a stable success story. Without superstar Stephen Curry, the team loses to the Indiana Pacers. Meanwhile, at the Orlando Magic, a German rookie is shining with the return of top player Paolo Banchero.

Basketball world champion Dennis Schröder continues to search for consistency with the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. In the absence of the injured superstar, Stephen Curry lost the team for the national team captaincy to the Indiana Pacers with 96:108 and had to accept another setback one day after the success against the Detroit Pistons (107:104). Schröder had little to counter Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton’s 35 points with twelve points, three assists and two rebounds. In the Western Conference table, the Warriors remain in the lower midfield in tenth place with 19 wins and 19 defeats.

Well recovered from the end of the impressive winning streak, Isaiah Hartenstein presented himself with the Oklahoma City Thunder at Madison Square Garden. The Western Conference table leaders prevailed against the strong New York Knicks 126:101 after OKC had previously lost against the Cleveland Cavaliers for the first time in 15 games. Hartenstein played solidly with six points, six assists and nine rebounds. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander excelled for the Thunder with 39 points. Daniel Theis also won 123:115 against the Philadelphia 76ers with the New Orleans Pelicans. The German contributes twelve points and four rebounds.

Superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo spoiled the evening for the Orlando Magic, who will still have to do without the injured world champion brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner. The Greek contributed 41 points in the 109:106 defeat of the Milwaukee Bucks, while the German-Brazilian rookie Tristan da Silva had 16 points and ten rebounds in the comeback of Magic star Paolo Banchero (34 points).

According to the NBA, the home games of the Los Angeles Lakers (against the San Antonio Spurs) and the Los Angeles Clippers (against the Charlotte Hornets) scheduled for Saturday have been postponed due to the devastating wildfires in the greater Los Angeles area. The Lakers’ party against the Hornets, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday, had already been canceled.
