The year 2025 in Sendling-Westpark will primarily revolve around the plans for a new neighborhood center. What else awaits citizens and the BA in the new year:

Sendling-Westpark – There was once a café, a bakery, a supermarket, a drugstore and more. There is now a hole at the corner of Waldfriedhofstrasse and Fürstenrieder Strasse. The excavators have long since made way for a new neighborhood center to be built on the site. At the last citizens’ meeting, Günter Keller (SPD), chairman of the local district committee, announced that things could start soon. The planning department confirms that building permits have now been granted for the “Waldfriedhof neighborhood center with retail, restaurants, living, underground parking.”

The topics in 2025 in Sendling-Westpark: Partnachplatz in focus

A lot has already happened at Partnachplatz, and various work will follow. In the future, a traffic-calmed business area with a speed limit of 20 km/h will also be established. According to the building department, the project approval by the city council is scheduled for February. Construction is expected to begin by the end of the year. The MVG has also announced that it will replace two escalators at the subway station there after 41 years of operation.

The existing “Partnachplatz” parking license area will be expanded westward to Garmischer Straße, Keller announces. If the city council agrees to the mobility department’s proposal, implementation could probably take place in the third quarter, explains a spokeswoman.

The progress also includes the start of the extensive renovation of the water playground in Westpark. A tender process is currently underway to continue the kiosk there. “We hope that a tenant can be found quickly,” says Keller.

The bridge over the A96 is being prepared for the first partial new construction. The demolition is planned for autumn, according to an MVG spokesman. “Until then, the division lines will be relocated from the northern Fürstenrieder Straße via Kärntner Platz into a division tunnel under the A96 and further via Gerty-Spies-Straße to the south side of Fürstenrieder Straße.” The lanes of the A96 will be diverted and reduced to two lanes heading out of town .

In Sendling-Westpark and Hadern, departmental pipes will be laid in the southern Fürstenrieder Straße in the first half of the year, before work will begin on the main water pipe from summer until probably 2026. “At the intersection of Ehrwalderstrasse and Fürstenrieder Strasse, after the complete renovation of the Implerstrasse – Klinikum Großhadern subway section has been completed, the demolition and new construction of the southeastern entrance to the Holzapfelkreuth subway station will begin in the second half of the year.” And the forest cemetery underpass will be demolished.

However, it is still uncertain whether the long-awaited Café Backsteinchen on Luise-Kiesselbach-Platz can open today.
