The Panthers should already have their sights set on this up-and-coming pass rusher

The Panthers should already have their sights set on this up-and-coming pass rusher

The Carolina Panthers will have a long list of needs heading into the NFL offseason, but one of their biggest issues is definitely their pass rush.

The Panthers only recorded 32 sacks in 2024, which shouldn’t be that much of a surprise considering Carolina lost Brian Burns last offseason and didn’t add anyone significant to the team other than Jadeveon Clowney, who has never had a double-digit sack campaign of his career.

The problem is the Panthers aren’t to have planned There’s a ton of room in free agency, so they’ll have to pick their spots.

One player Carolina is already considering is New York Giants Edge rusher Azeez Ojulari.

It’s unlikely the Giants will keep Ojulari since they completed a trade with the Panthers for Burns last March and Kayvon Thibodeaux is also on the sidelines.

Ojulari recorded 28 tackles and six sacks in 11 games this year, proving he is one of the most underrated pass rushers in football.

The 24-year-old entered the NFL with New York in 2021 and had a great rookie year with 49 tackles and eight sacks.

Since then, Ojulari has found it difficult to stay healthy, appearing in only 29 competitions between 2022 and 2024.

His questionable durability should make him a more affordable target in free agency, and the Panthers could potentially sign him to a short-term, incentive-rich contract.

Carolina needs to address this issue, and while Ojulari can’t be the Panthers’ only addition to fix this problem, it would be a great start.
