Chicago (WLS) – At least three were taken to the hospital and dozens are sold after a big fire broke out in a residential building in the north suburb of Arlington on Tuesday evening.

The crew reacted in a non-legal part of the suburbs to the 2300 block of West Nichols Road. Flames could be shot from the roof of the multi-unit building.

Tatiana Moore cooked on the stove for her two children, as the flames, she said, quickly her stove, home, and then spread to several units.

“I tried to get the fire extinguisher and I called the ambulance and tried to knock the neighbors’ doors to get them out so that they could get out. It only got out of control,” said Moore.

Charlie Sullivan, the tree manager, lives in the ground.

He had just finished dinner when he heard screams.

“The next thing I know is that someone taps into my window and I said: ‘What’s going on here?’,” Said Sullivan. “When I came out of my apartment, there was nothing but black smoke and I pressed the door, everything was over, it was everywhere.”

Firefighters said five people were rated on site, and at least three people were hospitalized for minor injuries.

Several agencies react to the scene in bitter -cold temperatures. At least half a dozen fire and EMS reaction vehicles were visible at the scene.

Sullivan said he and the six other families who live there will not be able to return home on Tuesday evening.

Moore says there is no home that I can return to.

“I have to start over. I and my children myself,” said Moore.

Representatives of the American Red Cross said they support the displaced.
