US President threatens a retaliation for the European wine tariff according to the EU Whiskey proposal

US President Donald Trump has threatened a 200 percent tariff of European wine, champagne and spirits when the European Union drives a planned tariff for American whiskey.

The European tariff should come into force on April 1st.

Trump in a social media posting called the EU “one of the most hostile and abusive exhausting and customs duties in the world, which was formed for the only purpose to exploit the United States”.

“If this tariff is not removed immediately, the US will shortly represent a tariff of 200% on all wines, champagne and alcoholic products from France and other EU,” said Trump.

“This will be great for the wine and champagne shops in the USA.”

The Republican President signaled on Wednesday that he intended to take the measures.

“Of course I will answer,” said Trump reporters during an Oval Office exchange with reporters.

Trump announced the new steel and aluminum tariffs on Wednesday, opened to us openly and swore to recapture the prosperity stolen by other countries, and he withdrew rapid retaliation.

He has to control separate tariffs in Canada, Mexico and China, with plans, from April 2, “mutual” tariffs from the European Union, Brazil and South Korea by calculating “mutual” prices.

The The EU announced its own countermeasures. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the United States uses “tariffs worth 28 billion US dollars (4.6 billion US dollars), we react roughly the same amount with countermeasures worth 26 billion euros”.

These measures not only cover steel and aluminum products, but also textiles, household appliances and agricultural goods.
