Latest news, updates close to deadline

The Tennessee Titans have already lost two starters on the season as the team has fallen to a 1-6 record.

Tuesday’s trade deadline often gets more attention than it’s worth – the NBA, MLB and NHL do better than the NFL in this regard – but the Titans under the current leadership have shown a willingness to make a move even during the regular season if things go poorly.

Sunday’s 52-14 loss to the Detroit Lions was further evidence of how far this team is from contending. Tennessee has a number of veteran players with expiring contracts, even after trading the receiver DeAndre Hopkins and linebacker Ernest Jones IV.

Will there be more Tennessee trades before the November 5th deadline? And who could be a trading target? What about Jeffery Simmons? Here’s what you need to know about the Titans and the trade deadline:

NFL Trade Deadline Tracker 2024: Titans, NFL Trades, Player Targets Before Trade Deadline

  • The Titans traded WR DeAndre Hopkins to the Chiefs for a conditional 2025 fifth-round pick. (October 24)
  • The Titans traded LB Ernest Jones IV to the Seahawks for LB Jerome Baker and a 2025 fourth-round pick. (Oct. 23)

  • The Jaguars traded OT Cam Robinson and a 2026 conditional seventh-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings for a 2026 conditional fifth-round pick. (October 30)
  • The Panthers traded WR Diontae Johnson and a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Ravens for a 2025 fifth-round pick. (October 29)
  • The Patriots traded EDGE Josh Uche to the Chiefs for a 2026 sixth-round pick. (October 28)
  • The Texans traded RB Cam Akers and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Vikings for a 2026 sixth-round pick. (October 15)
  • Browns traded WR Amari Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Bills for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick. (October 15)
  • The Raiders traded WR Davante Adams to the Jets for a conditional 2025 third-round pick. (October 15)
  • The Jaguars traded DL Roy Robertson-Harris to the Seahawks for a 2026 sixth-round pick. (October 14)

A fire sale in the NFL is virtually unheard of – most years there are around 20 in-season trades by the mid-season deadline. But there are a handful of experienced players on expiring contracts who could help rivals at a lower price. This list contains:

WR Tyler Boyd

Salary: Cap of $2.4 million reached, contract expires (per Spotrac)

Boyd, 29, had a bad drop in the goal-line sequence that led to the Titans getting no points in the loss to Detroit. He is tied for second on the team in receptions (21) but has the fewest yards per catch of his career. Despite his ties to coach Brian Callahan, a trade would give the Titans’ younger receivers, namely rookie Jha’Quan Jackson, a chance at the spot.

DL Sebastian Joseph Day

Salary: The cap of $3.975 million has been reached and the deal expires

Joseph-Day is a solid complementary interior player who, along with Jeffery Simmons, totaled two sacks and four QB hits in 183 defensive snaps in seven games. He’s the type of player who could really help a contender in need of another center back, but is of little long-term value to a 1-6 team.

DB Quandre Diggs

Salary: The cap of $3 million has been reached and the deal is expiring

Diggs has played well in the secondary and would be a good long-term fit alongside Amani Hooker as a safety pairing in Nashville. But Diggs will be 32 next season, and would he re-sign with Tennessee if other candidates came calling?

None of the three players listed would receive more than a Day 3 pick, but that shouldn’t diminish the value of those picks in building roster depth.

It’s unlikely for several reasons. No. 1, the Titans need good players, and Simmons can still be a major disruptor on the defensive line despite a mediocre year in the box score.

But the even more prohibitive issue is his contract. Simmons will face $21.65 million against the cap this season and $22.8 million against the cap in 2025 Over the cap. That’s a large chunk of cap space to add in the middle of the season, and only a handful of teams could afford to do it. Of these, only the 49ers and the Lions can be considered contenders.

  • The trade deadline is Tuesday, November 5th at 3:00 p.m. CT. All business should be completed by then.
  • This deadline is a week later than last season after a league-wide vote to ensure the deadline would not occur until after the conclusion of Week 9.
  • There have been nine trades since the start of the regular season in September.
  • 1st round selection
  • 2nd round selection
  • 4th round pick
  • 4th round pick (via Seattle)
  • 5th round pick

  • 6th round pick
