Temperatures are below freezing to start your Halloween, but we should warm up

Today’s forecast:
We got off to a cold start this morning, with temperatures below freezing for some of us. Jackets and layers are required, but you should be able to shed these by mid-afternoon. Once we reach trick-or-treating time (around 5 p.m.), temperatures will be below 50 and continue to get colder. Children will need some layers under these costumes.

Forecast for Colorado Springs: High: 53; Low: 31.
Colder temperatures await us this morning, but we’ll gradually get warmer as the day progresses. Once we get to the trick-or-treat time frame, springs will be in the low 50s. By the time trick-or-treating is over, we will have cooled down to the lower 40s.

Pueblo Forecast: High: 60; Low: 28.
Cold morning in Pueblo with temperatures around 20°C. We will eventually warm to the lower 60s. No rain is expected today. Temperatures will cool back down overnight, so layers will be necessary if you’re out and about this evening.

Canon City forecast: High: 60; Low: 28.
Today’s highs for Canon City will be much warmer than yesterday. Eventually we will reach the lower 60s and then cool back down to the upper 20s overnight.

Woodland Park Forecast: High: 50; Low: 23.
Woodland Park will start the day in the 10s, but at some point we will reach highs of around 50 degrees. Temperatures will drop back into the low 20s overnight, so jackets will be necessary for Friday morning.

Tri Lakes Forecast: High: 50; Low: 31.
It snowed a bit overnight in Monument and we start with cooler temperatures. At some point we will reach highs around 50 degrees. Kids going out tonight will need layers under their costumes.

Plains forecast: High: Upper 50s/low 60s; Low: Upper 20s/low 30s.
A chilly start to the morning with temperatures in the 20s and 30s across the Plains. We will warm to the upper 50s/low 60s at some point so some layers could be shed as the day progresses. Nighttime temperatures will be in the upper 20s/low 30s again.

Forecast for Walsenburg and Trinidad: High: 58/60; Low: 32/33.
We start the morning just before freezing. More sunshine will shine through the clouds as the day progresses, which will help warm us into the upper 50s/low 60s.

Mountain Forecast: High: Low 50s/upper 40s; Low: 20s.
There was a fresh layer of snow in the mountains, the amount of which varies depending on the direction you look. Temperatures will drop back to over 20°C overnight. The snow on the higher peaks will likely start to stick.

Advanced Forecast Forecast:
We’ll look at the next potential snowmaker on Sunday evening and Monday morning. The models are currently expecting a severe storm, especially in the early morning commute hours. Snow totals are still on the table and we continue to monitor the models to see how effective this system will be.
