Roman Josi remains in a scoring mood, but continues to lose. The Devils and the Canucks also win thanks to the Swiss.

Unfortunately, the evening didn’t end satisfactorily: The Nashville Predators suffered their 7th defeat in the last 9 games in the NHL with a 2-3 overtime loss against Tampa Bay. Meanwhile, captain Roman Josi could be satisfied with his performance.

The Bernese player only needed 83 seconds to score his first goal, a treat from the blue line. When the Lightning (with defender Janis Moser) turned the game around in the middle third, Josi responded just three minutes after the opening goal with his second goal of the evening, making it 2-2. In overtime the “Preds” were left behind and Brayden Point made the decision.

For Josi it is the second double of the season after the one against Winnipeg a week ago. In total he has 5 goals from the last 4 games.

Hischier and Meier in step

Two Swiss players helped New Jersey win 5-4 against Detroit. Captain Nico Hischier and Timo Meier both equalized to make it 2:2 and 3:3 respectively. The two strikers also each received an assist. Jonas Siegenthaler had almost 20 minutes of ice time in the Devils defense and a minus-2 record.

Pius Suter also collected two scorer points in Vancouver’s 4:3 nV win over the Buffalo Sabres. The Zurich man marked the interim 3-1 lead himself and assisted to make it 1-1.

The other Swiss in action:

  • Kevin Fiala and the Los Angeles Kings win the Southern California duel against the Anaheim Ducks, the so-called “Freeway Face-off”, 2-1.
  • Philipp Kurashev lost 2-3 with Chicago against Minnesota, the striker left the ice with a minus-2 record.
