Unai Emerys Main concern is that his Aston Villa The players fail to properly channel their frustration after going seven games without a win, but accept that they are only human.

On Sunday they travel to Chelsea looking for their first Premier League win in six weeks after their last Victory against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Emery is asking his team to stay focused and not become complacent as they prepare for the challenges ahead. He trusts the processes that have changed the club since Emery’s arrival two years ago.

“Sometimes we are not sophisticated in our analysis,” Emery admitted. “When we are successful, it is human nature to think that everything is going well. Maybe sometimes you win games, but you also make mistakes. You have to be careful to correct it and analyze it.”

“Now I try to maintain balance in how we perform and perform individually and collectively. I try to feel in that balance every day and be more or less confident about the way we do it. When we are doing very, very well we demand and try to maintain our high level of consistency and sometimes fail to do so, the frustration we have to deal with.

“I’m trying to get the last games and the last result under control myself: the balance, the frustration with the players. Now we play on Sunday and I know we can win, draw or lose.”

Emery added: “I am very demanding myself. If I have more or less achieved my goal in my career, it is because I was demanding and tried to win a lot and set my goal high. I managed more than less. But.” If you don’t get it, your frustration is greater than normal.

“That’s my concern for the team, for the players, because if we don’t win a game, we have to win. I’m frustrated. My demand is not to miss opportunities like we lost in some games.”

“That is the frustration that I have to control because the only way to improve it is to work and keep balance and try to develop confidence in the players and instill it in them.”

Villa’s seven-match winless streak is their longest since Emery took over at the club, after they went six winless in all competitions at the end of last season.

“Motivation is very important,” Emery continued. “One of the most important things we are working on is to focus on every game for 90 minutes. Some of the mistakes we make are because, individually and collectively, we have lost a little bit of our focus.”

“When we play against teams that are better than us, more favorites than us, the only way to beat them is to keep consistency at a high level. In the Premier League you have to be smarter, you have to be more focused and more intense than your opponent. If not, you have no options to beat him.
