Mitchell on the season so far and his game against Newcastle – News

Palace have suffered defeat in their last five games in all competitions, winning twice in that time, but are now looking to turn recent draws into wins.

Mitchell told Premier League Productions: “The first few games were tough. We had a lot of players who took part in the tournaments in the summer so they weren’t really there in the pre-season but personally we didn’t start the way we wanted and when we looked at the database it showed that we didn’t play the way we finished the season last year.

“I think we’ve just gone back to our basic principles when it comes to how much we run – we try to outrun our opponents in possession and without possession and if you can do that you’ve already half won the game, If that makes sense.” – So I think our physical performance is part of the fact that we’ve really tried to improve since the start of the season.

“We know what we are good at and how we can win games. That’s why it’s about enabling these moments even more and putting ourselves in a position to show how good we are, and I think that’s the main goal going forward from the next game – and from every game onwards

“Since we are in the table, you always look forward to the next game. You always want to get everything right, for yourself, for your team, for your teammates, for the manager and for the club, so we’re definitely looking forward to that. We just feel like things will get better and better once we get over this little hurdle that we might have right now.”
