Knighton celebrates Christmas with a lights-on event, festive music and Santa Claus.

The city council has been busy planning the event, which will take place on Saturday, December 7th.

The fun on Broad Street begins around 5:45pm when the Knighton Silver Band plays festive music and carols.

Then Santa Claus and the Mayor of Knighton, Councilor Chris Branford, will lead the grand countdown to the Christmas lights switching on at around 6pm.

The children can then go to the community center at 6:15 p.m. to meet Santa Claus in his grotto and take home a small gift. Thanks to the hard work of the festive elves behind the scenes, all presents are wrapped age-appropriately for each child.

Councilor Branford said; “Knighton Town Council hopes everyone will enjoy the Christmas lights switch-on event this year. Many thanks to Becky and Scott Fowkes for donating the town’s Christmas tree, to Restorella for putting together a beautiful Christmas grotto and to Nicky Tranter, arborist, for donating the presents. Some shops will stay open a little later this evening.”
