Criticism of the Camping-Car Park parking space network

Criticism of the Camping-Car Park parking space network

The Camping-Car Park parking space network, which was founded in France, builds parking spaces together with municipalities and already operates 550 overnight spaces for motorhomes in France alone. The network has now also set out to increase the number of parking spaces available in Germany.

In the spring of this year, Camping-Car’s first parking space was opened in Bühl, Baden-Württemberg, with more to follow. Camping-Car Park CEO Olivier Coudrette announced to promobil in an interview in May that his company aims to operate the 200 motorhome parking spaces in Germany over the next five years.

To use the network’s pitches, the so-called “Pass’Étapes” is mandatory. Without this payment card you cannot access the parking space. It costs five euros, is valid for life and allows access to the services on all pitches in the Camping Car Park network. The access card can be ordered online or purchased directly from one of the machines at the parking space. In both cases, a personal account is created for the parking space user. The card can then be topped up online or at a payment machine. But such a system also entails risks, for example if technical equipment fails or if there are misunderstandings when billing accommodation fees.

While the users of the first German parking space in Bühl mostly express positive comments about the space in promobil’s parking space radar app, criticism can also be heard from some users of the parking space network. For example, the way complaints are handled is criticized in letters to the editor and on online rating platforms. According to the accusation, these were not answered promptly or not in German. promobil therefore asked the parking space chain.
