The Atlanta Hawks win 117:101 at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA. Thanks to the victory, they are in the quarterfinals of the NBA Cup.

After the 135:124 away win, Atlanta also won the second duel with Cleveland within 2 days. The Hawks won at home 117:101. The Swiss Clint Capela contributed 8 points and 13 rebounds to the hosts’ victory.

For Atlanta, the success also has positive effects for the in-season tournament. Thanks to the 3rd win in the 4th game, Capela and Co. secured 1st place in Group C of the Eastern Conference in this competition. This puts them firmly in the quarterfinals of the NBA Cup. Houston and Golden State are also further along.

Lakers successor sought

The in-season tournament was held for the first time in the 2023/24 season. In this competition, all 30 NBA teams participate in 6 groups. The group winners and the two best runners-up from the Eastern and Western Conferences advance to the quarterfinals.

The winner of the NBA Cup is then determined in the knockout system. The Los Angeles Lakers secured the trophy last year.
