iPhone 17: Larger camera module and aluminum

Apple is about to undergo a major redesign of its iPhone. After the design of the smartphone has remained largely the same since the iPhone 12 from 2020, significant changes are expected to be introduced with the next generation, which will be presented in autumn 2025.

According to a report by “The Information”, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max in particular will receive significant innovations. However, the cheaper iPhone SE 4 will come onto the market in spring 2025.

Apple therefore plans to use aluminum again for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max after the current iPhone 16 Pro models are equipped with a titanium frame. Both the frame and the back of the new devices should be made of aluminum. A combination of aluminum and glass will be used, which is particularly visible in the camera module. The module will also be larger, rectangular in design and sit on an aluminum surface, according to the reports.

The design change has sparked speculation that the new Pro models could be similar to the current Google Pixel phones. Numerous renderings and rumors are already circulating, as Futurzone.at reports.

In addition to the design, Apple should also significantly improve the camera technology. The front camera of the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) is expected to have a resolution of 24 megapixels, instead of the previous twelve megapixels. The telephoto lens should also be upgraded from twelve to 48 megapixels.

An exclusive feature for the iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to be a smaller Dynamic Island – according to the information, the cutout in the display will be significantly narrower than in previous models.

Apple will not announce the official details of the new iPhone generation until fall 2025. Until then, there remains a lot of room for speculation and possible changes. Whether Apple actually radically changes the design of the iPhone will become clear next year at the latest.
