Precision landing during the construction of a new bridge in Fischen. After a construction period of around half a year, the new bridge over the Grundbach, which flows directly past the Tauscher car dealership, has now been opened to traffic again.

fishing – A short construction period followed a long history, as Mayor Bruno Sauter recalled when the building was opened to traffic. When he took office as the new mayor a few years ago, he essentially “inherited” the dilapidated bridge from his predecessor Edgar Rölz. And at the time he said that there was still time for the foreseeable need for new construction and that he dispelled all concerns by indicating that “it’s not going to be worth it at all”, so it will last for a while.

It held up, but its condition “didn’t get any better,” said Mayor Sauter about his “legacy” of building the bridge. And all hopes that the problem of the new building would be solved for Fischen as part of the tunnel project on the B 19 had long since been dashed. In the meantime, the Grundbach Bridge on the nearby B 19 had also been renewed.

Considerations and concrete planning finally began in 2023. The problem with the tonnage limit of three tons was also solved. “In practice, no one cares about this restriction,” says Bruno Sauter. The new bridge along the “Am Anger” road has no restrictions for heavy goods traffic. The twelve-meter-long new Grundbach Bridge will cost the community around 1.2 million euros. “A lot of money for fishing,” said Mayor Sauter. But at least there is a state subsidy of 60 percent. Construction took place from mid-April to mid-October.

A good togetherness

According to the companies involved, Dobler, Wechs and Schmid, around 100 cubic meters of concrete were needed. And everything took place in good cooperation with the neighbors and those affected by the construction site. Last but not least, according to the mayor, the neighboring Tauscher car dealership proved to be a perfect partner and companion during the construction phase at an important point in the local road network: “Everything went totally relaxed and in good cooperation.” That is not a given.”

The Protestant priest Susanne Ohr and the Catholic priest Joseph Shijo also referred to the importance of bridge structures in their remarks at the church blessing of the new bridge. Bridges are important for people, both emphasized. Also in a figurative sense – for encounters and good cooperation.
